| Characteristics and Applications by Stainless Steel Type

  •  STS 304
Characteristics: Because the stainless steel is used for the widest purpose contains Ni, it has better corrosion resistance, heat resistance, and low temperature strength than the Cr system, and has good moldability and weldability, but severe cold processing causes processing and hardening.
Application: domestic goods, food industry piping, automobile parts, construction internal/external materials, chemical industries, dairy industrial facilities, various medical equipment, ship components

  • STS 304L
Characteristics: Low carbon Ni-Cr steel, corrosion resistance in normal conditions is similar to 304, but it has excellent resistance to grain corrosion after welding or stress removal heat treatment.

Application: Chemical industry, coal industry, petroleum industry, paper industry, nuclear power generation facilities

  • STS 309S
Characteristics: It is used as corrosion resistant steel for welding structures because it has relatively good weldability by increasing the amount of Ni-Cr and reducing the amount of carbon compared to 304. Formability is between 304 and 403.

Application: acetic acid tank, chemical industrial equipment, welding wire

  • STS 310S
Characteristics: It is an austenitic steel with the highest Cr ratio among KS standards, which improves corrosion resistance by reducing the amount of carbon, which is expensive in terms of price.

Application: acetic acid tank, chemical industrial equipment, resistors, etc

  • STS 316
Characteristics: Increased Ni content at the same time as Mo addition is excellent in corrosion resistance, high resistance to formula, and excellent Creep strength at high temperatures. The processing hardening is extremely large and magnetic.

Application: Chemical industry, petroleum industry, paper, dyeing, chemical color industry, food manufacturing facilities

  • STS 316L
Characteristics: Mo-containing Ni-Cr steel of low carbon is similar to the characteristics of STS-316, but it has excellent resistance to grain corrosion after welding or stress removal heat treatment. There is no magnetism.

Application: Sulfuric acid industry, fertilizer industry, synthetic fiber industry, dyeing machine, paper pulp industry

  • STS 321
Characteristics: Titan is added to 18-8 types to prevent integranular corrosion, especially suitable for use between 430 and 900℃. In annealing conditions, it is slightly magnetic by nonmagnetic or cold working.

Application: Aircraft engine exhaust pipe, current collector ring, boiler · tube, and other chemical processing devices

  • STS 347
Characteristics: Stabilized steel type with Nb added to 304. Excellent in intergranular corrosion resistance after welding. It is also used as a heat resistant material because of its high Creep strength at high temperatures.

Application: Aircraft exhaust pipe, current collector, expansion joint, chemical device, boiler tube
